There are many different types of leadership within the Home Depot Corporation. There is leadership at the corporate level, along with leadership at each individual store and they are all equally important to success of the company. For almost every company the ultimate goal should be to maximize value for stakeholders. This is one aspect that Home Depot strives to achieve through their senior leadership team. The senior leadership team is dedicated to serving customers and providing them with an ultimate shopping experience. As a result from this dedication along with their company values and commitment, Home Depot is able to achieve their goal of creating value for stakeholders. Another types of leadership is the board of directors who have a huge responsible towards making decisions for the company. Lastly, one of the most important types of leadership is the supervisors and managers at each individual retail location. These are the leaders that interact with retail employees and customers on a daily basis. It is essential for this type of leadership to be highly effective to ensure customer satisfaction, which ultimately drives the success of a company.
Chairman and CEO- Frank Blake
In January of 2007, Frank Blake was appointed as Home Depots chief executive officer (CEO). He became CEO after the previous CEO was forced to resign. Prior to having the privilege of being appointed as CEO, he was a vice chairman on the board of directors and an executive vice president of the company since 2002. He began his career at Home Depot specializing in business development and corporate operations. He was responsible for real estate, store construction, growth initiatives, and developing strategic business. Prior to his career at Home Depot, Blake experienced a variety of executive roles at other well known companies such as General Electric. His past employment, his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, and his five years at Home Depot have given him the knowledge and experience necessary to become an effective CEO.
